I don’t know how many sunburns I’ve suffered in this life. A sad but true statement, I can say with confidence that there’s been more than a few scorches to my skin. After repetitively – and regrettably – making poor choices about my lack of sun protection, I’ve thankfully become a bit more conscious over time.
I sport sun protection on my face every day, more specifically by way of Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream with SPF 35. Facial sunscreen is now a habit thanks to this product being a part of my makeup routine. But now that it’s summer, protecting other parts of the body from sun damage is a different story. Beaches, barbeques, pools, and even walks – you’ll definitely need a layer of a little something called sunscreen.
Back to the important topic of face protection again, La Roche-Posay’s new Anthelios Mineral Tinted Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 60 is fantastic for sensitive skin. Fragrance and paraben-free, this thin fluid gives a barely-there feel with the result of a matte finish. It also provides waterproof protection for up to 80 minutes, should you decide to hop in the H20.
Kiehl’s makes some of my favorite body care products ever. I won’t even get started on my love for their Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser and Musk Shower Gel. Alas, their Activated Sun Protector Sunscreen for Body with SPF 50 is no exception to greatness, being non-greasy and water-resistant – two very important qualities in my nonprofessional opinion.
If you want to talk about cool packaging, Sun Bum has it down pat. Their SPF 30 Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion is hypoallergenic and lightweight, so as not to clog pores, plus it enriches the skin with Vitamin E to prevent premature skin aging. No one wants to wrinkle at age 25, right? It’s retail price of $15.99 is super-affordable, too, though I think I’d pay anything to prevent skin cancer.
Is there anything worse than sunburned lips? Absolutely not. Mint Fusion Lip Balm by Supergoop! protects users from this dilemma by keeping lips continuously moisturized with SPF 30.
Going back to my dermatology roots, Blue Lizard was the first sunscreen recommended by my doctor. Their bottles and lids change color in the presence of dangerous UV rays, which is certainly a great reminder to reapply.
